BRAZILIAN LUTA LIVRE
BELT PROGRAMS
SPECIFIC TECHNIQUES FOR EACH BELT
The Brazilian Luta Livre belt programs, as well as all the others at LutaLivreUniversity, were designed by Master Rolando Carrizo Ortiz and have a unique structure.
These are programs with specific techniques for each level; designed for the program where they are located.
Each technique was analyzed in depth, often broken down, adapted and included in the corresponding program, taking into account its degrees of complexity and importance for the learning stage that students go through when they are taking that graduation.
The intention is an adequate and balanced growth in each component, both in standing wrestling and in ground wrestling.
In this way, a global balance is achieved from the first steps and throughout the entire learning process because the concept of balanced teaching is maintained in all programs.
Therefore, one of the fundamental values of this and all programs is the careful selection of techniques for each program.
Each level has its specific techniques, the result of a deep analysis of the students' general abilities and what they need at each stage of learning. This does not mean that there are no other techniques that students can apply that are not in the program for their level. What matters is that the techniques that are part of the program are more important and necessary for that stage, in the balanced construction of their learning.
PROGRAMS BY QUANTITY OF TECHNIQUES VS PROGRAMS OF SPECIFIC TECHNIQUES
In systems such as Luta Livre and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (among others) there are programs based on the sum of techniques, which consist of setting certain requirements regarding the number of techniques according to the grade.
That is, students are asked for a number of specific techniques for a certain level and the requirement increases in quantity as the student advances in grade.
For example: if for the first belt (Yellow) the student is asked for a Guard Pass, for the next exam a greater number will be asked (for example, two) and for the following the number will increase at the discretion (for example, four); etc.
And so on with all the techniques that those who designed these programs want to add.
In these cases, the student is the one who usually chooses the techniques that he will present and they will not always be the appropriate ones for his stage of learning.
