EXPLANATION OF CONTENT
The Brazilian Luta Livre Yellow Belt Program (The Foundamentals 1) focuses on the most basic of stand-up fighting and the 4 basic positions of ground fighting.
The concept is based on attacking postures, defensive postures, positional attacks, defenses of those attacks and submissions with their respective defenses.
In stand-up fighting, the following are included:
- 2 similar and complementary takedowns.
- 1 defense to neutralize them.
In ground fighting, the techniques are distributed as follows:
Mounted Position:
- 2 positional variants in attack.
- 2 resolutions against attacks.
- 1 submission.
- 1 defense of this submission.
- 2 defensive postures.
- 1 escape.
Guard Position:
- 2 postures from bottom.
- 1 reversal.
- 1 submission.
- 1 defense of this submission.
- 2 inside the Guard postures.
- 1 Guard Pass.
Side Control Position:
- 3 attacking postures.
- 1 positional attack.
- 1 submission that is complemented by the Mount Position.
- 1 defense of this submission.
- 1 defensive posture.
- 1 positional defense.
- 1 escape.
Back Control Position:
- 1 attacking posture.
- 1 submission.
- 1 defense of this submission.
- 2 defensive postures.
- 1 escape.
In total, between techniques and variations, there are 35 techniques distributed in 25 videos, which constitute the content of the first step, to ascend to the first degree in Brazilian Luta Livre.
A simple and very useful program with the first and most necessary tools for this stage and, on which, the rest of the techniques will be based.
The estimated minimum time for learning, assimilation and concrete mastery of the program, for a student without experience, is approximately 72 classes (6 months); understanding that it is practiced 3 times a week.
This calculation allows for 2 classes per video, plus 2 classes in total to repeat any technique whose assimilation requires more work.
Our recommendation is that, within each class in which the assigned video is watched, the following is included:
1. The careful practice of the techniques included in each video towards the skilled side or with arms and legs that are more comfortable.
2. The practice towards the unskilled side (once the initial assimilation on the skilled side has been achieved).
3. The attempt to apply it together with some technique, previously learned, that is complementary or can be combined with the techniques in the corresponding video.
4. The attempt to apply it with controlled resistance by the partner.
5. General controlled fighting practice (with the few or many tools they have).
A detailed teaching down to the smallest movement, explained with the didactics that made Mestre Rolando Carrizo Ortiz famous in the world of Brazilian Luta Livre.
